A complaint was filed with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority against three officials of Bardiya National Park involved in pressurizing the family to withdraw the FIR.

Jhapa DPO refused.  The Ilam Appellate Court in April 2010 quashed a petition to get the FIR registered and for police to initiate investigations on the basis that investigations were already underway. An appeal to the Supreme Court against the appellate court decision is pending.
