9 September 2013: Yesterday Chitwan District Court remanded Ram Prasad Adhikari, an alleged perpetrator in Krishna Prasad Adhikari’s murder during the conflict, to 10 days of judicial custody for further investigation. Adhikari, an underground Maoist during the conflict, has been named as one of the 11 people involved in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari in Chitwan. Krishna was murdered on 6 June 2004 by Maoist cadres in the charge of spying for the army.
Krishna’s parents, Nanda Prasad Adhikari and Ganga Maya Adhikari, had been staging fast-unto-death for 48 days demanding the arrest of all the perpetrators and justice for their son. They ended their fast after coming to know that one of the perpetrators had been arrested. The agreement reached between them and the government includes arresting and taking action against those involved in the incident, providing appropriate compensation to them and making necessary arrangement of rehabilitation and security to them. However, they have warned the government that they would resume their fast if the agreements are not followed to the letter.
