21 February 2022, Banke: On 18 Feb 2022, Advocacy Forum-Nepal distributed educational material worth twenty thousand to Child Correction Home (CCH) in Banke. While facilitating the event AF lawyer Basanta Gautam emphasized the need of an overall teaching learning environment in the CCH along with the inclusion of technical knowledge. AF has provided 24 dozen copies and 100 pieces of pens to the children as requested by the CCH with an aim to address the gaps in teaching learning activities.
Surendra Jaisi, a staff at correction home reported that CCH Banke has 178 children despite its capacity of 70. More than 70 students are from classes 5 to 8. Around 30 students are pursuing their Higher Education whereas 2 are doing their graduation. Child Correction Homes in Nepal lack teachers and teaching learning environment.
The CCH’s in-charge, Bimala Kaucha Magar, emphasized the significance of providing quality education to the children and management of a teacher.
AF has been actively assisting Correction Homes throughout the country with an aim to strengthen the juvenile justice system in Nepal.
