28 June 2012. In various programs organized by regional and district offices of Advocacy Forum (AF) observing the UN International Day in Support of Torture Victims-2012, many woman victims of torture and sexual violence requested the stakeholders concerned to address their problem without further delay. A lot of victims were concerned that the incidents of torture and sexual violence have continued even after the end the conflict and that they were deprived of effective remedy and redress.
In the programs, AF regional and district offices brought victims and stakeholders of the criminal justice system in a single forum where victims of mainly torture and sexual violence of both conflict and post-conflict period expressed physical and mental problems they are still suffering from and demanded that the government take concrete steps to bring their perpetrators to justice. They have also opposed the government’s act of excluding women victims of torture and sexual violence from the interim relief and have called on the government to immediately include them in the relief program. They have also requested to prevent the practice of torture in government detention facilities.
AF has been operating its continued work of human rights advocacy and lobby through 20 districts.
