9 January 2013. Making its intention clear that justice will not be delivered to conflict victims, UCPN (Maoist) led government has ordered the police and the District Attorney Office, Dailekh to immediately stop all investigations into Dekendra Thapa murder case that occurred eight years ago. The investigation officers have admitted that they are under pressure from higher authorities to stop taking statements from the accused that were arrested on 5 January.
Newspapers published from the country have reported that Prime Minister himself approached the Attorney General’s Office and the Police Headquarters asking for immediate halt in investigations against the arrested Maoist activists. Investigating officer Binod Sharma even told journalists that a local Maoist had threatened over the phone to kill his wife and children if he continued with the investigation. The officers however have refused to be influenced from any pressure.
