5 April 2024, Kathmandu: District Court Chitwan has issued an order to send ex-Maoist combatant Kali Bahadur Kham “Bibidh” to judicial custody in District Prison Chitwan today for the torture leading to death of Ramhari Shrestha.
The single bench of Judge Dayaram Dhakal has also ordered to present the witnesses to the court as respondent Kham has named witnesses in the case.
Advocacy Forum-Nepal’s Advocate Pushpa Raj Poudel had argued in the court on behalf of the complainant Ramila Shrestha while 10 lawyers had represented the respondent Kham.
Ramhari Shrestha was abducted from his house in Kathmandu on 27 April 2008 and taken to Shaktikhor in Chitwan district. He was severely beaten there and later taken to Bharatpur Medical College where he breathed his last on 8 May 2008.
The victim’s wife Ramila Shrestha had filed a First Information Report to the police pinpointing Kali Bahadur Kham and others as the perpetrators. AF has been providing legal aid to Ramila Shrestha from the very beginning.
