13 February 2014: Advocacy Forum (AF), Redress Trust (“REDRESS”) and the Association of the Prevention of Torture (APT) today jointly made a submission to the UN Human Rights Committee (HRC) ahead of its 110th session where Nepal’s second periodic report under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) will be examined.
The submission provides additional information in response to the Committee’s list of issues to be considered during the examination.
Further, this submission seeks to identify the systemic problems in legislation and practice in Nepal in response to the critical points highlighted and the questions posed by the Committee in the List of Issues and Conclusions and Recommendations on Nepal’s initial report. Where relevant, the submission also refers to the Universal Periodic Review of Nepal of January 2011.
