Kathmandu, 4th June 2018: Advocacy Forum (AF) organized 3 workshops on “Juvenile Justice and Roles of Local Judicial Committee” in Bhairahawa of Province 5, Birendranagar of Province 6 and Mahendranagar of Province 7 on different dates. Altogether 60 participants including representatives from Provincial Internal Affairs and Law Ministry, District court, District Public Prosecutors, District Juvenile Welfare Council, Women and Children Cell of Nepal Police and members of Local Judicial Committee (LJC)

In the workshops, district judges presented work papers on juvenile justice jurisdiction and roles and responsibility of Local Judicial Committee. AF shared its works on juvenile justice and national and international trends and practices on juvenile justice. In the program, participants especially members of Local Judicial Committee were interested to discuss on the cases filed in the LJC and get feedback from the judges. The judges made them aware about what type of cases they can handle themselves and what type of cases they need to refer to the court. As most of the members of Local Judicial Committee were from non-legal background, they found the workshop very interesting and useful.
