
08 Aug 2014: Advocacy Forum (AF), organized a four day training on “Documentation and Monitoring Cases of Human Rights Violations” from 02 – 05 August at Dhulikel, Kavrepalanchowk district. In the training national and international experts gave training to the participants on various issues such as: identifying human rights violations, current situation in Terai, documenting human rights abuses, specific rights and available remedies at international level, remedies at national level, engaging with international system-Nepal’s experience, preparing communications for the UNSR on torture and UN Working Groups, documenting cases of sexual violence and safety and security protocol etc. During the training sessions, the participants were divided into groups, were given specific situations of human rights violations and were asked to document torture and extrajudicial killing cases. After their presentation the national and international experts commented on their drafts. Likewise, they are asked to draft communications to UNSRs and experts commented on their drafts.
From this training a total of 25 human rights lawyers/defenders from AF and Terai Human Rights Defenders Alliance (THRD Alliance) were benefitted.
