AF Organized Interaction on NAPII among Conflict Victims, Political Parties and Local Government in Banke

2 April 2024, Kathmandu: Advocacy Forum-Nepal (AF) and International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) organized an interaction programme in collaboration with Conflict Victim Women National Network (CVWN) and District Coordination Committee Banke on 1 April 2024.

The event titled “Role of the political parties and the local government in protecting victims’ rights to reparation” was organized for the smooth implementation of the second National Action Plan (NAPII) for women, peace and security.

Office bearers in the District Coordination Committee (DCC), political leaders, local government chairpersons, human rights activists, conflict victim women and representatives of different civil society organizations participated in the meeting.

Speaking in the event, AF’s Lumbini Province Senior Coordinator Advocate Basanta Gautam shed light on NAPII and emphasized on the actions to be carried out after forming local level structure.

CVWN Treasurer Chandrakala Uprety said that conflict victim women have faced many problems and everyone needs to play their roles responsibly for the implementation of NAPII.

Khajura Rural Municipality Chairperson Dammar BK Tufan, Raptisonari Rural Municipality Deputy Chairperson Manisha Tharu and Baijanath Rural Municipality Deputy Chairperson Nirmala Rokaya committed to implement NAPII by forming a municipality-level structure within a month.

During the event, NAPII District-level Directing Committee under the coordination of DCC Banke Chairperson Gyanendra Kumar Chaudhary has been formed. The meeting decided to request all the municipalities to form committees at the local level.
