15 October 2012. Advocacy Forum has issued a press release condemning the government’s recent decision of promoting Colonel Raju Basnet to the post of Brigadier General. Basnet has been implicated in torturing and disappearing 49 people in the infamous Bhairabnath Battalion barracks during conflict.
Dr. Haribansh Tripathi, Director, AF, has stated in the press release that this move from the government expressly demonstrates its intention of providing amnesty to all people involved in grave violations of human rights during conflict. He has called on the government for stopping promotion of all people implicated in human rights violations.
