12 February 2023, Kathmandu: Advocacy Forum-Nepal (AF) organized a two-day planning and orientation program on 11-12 February 2023 in Patleban, Kathmandu. AF staff from the provincial and central office along with the members of the executive committee of AF attended the program. The main objective of the meeting was to reflect on the AF’s interventions in 2022 and delve into strategies to better protect and promote human rights and the rule of law in Nepal.
The participants conducted a comprehensive discourse on a range of human rights concerns, encompassing topics such as transitional justice, prevention of torture and ill-treatment, child rights and juvenile justice, and the current status of impunity on the topics. The discussion also centered on the assessment of the AF’s present working context in line with the strategic vision for the continued advancement of the organization over the forthcoming five years. Furthermore, discussions revolve around AF’s spheres of engagement, while also acknowledging the challenges and opportunities in which AF can exert a positive influence.
Concluding the program, the participants unanimously consented to collaborate towards accomplishing the set objectives in the AF’s strategic plan, with a focus on addressing the systemic issue of human rights abuses and impunity. They committed to implementing the knowledge and skills they acquired during the event, and actively pursuing advocacy and campaign for the advancement of the long-stalled TJ process, documentation, and litigation of human rights violations within their respective regions with high spirit and professional excellence.
