Advocacy Forum- Nepal Holds a Meeting with District Police Office, Banke

4 July Nepalgunj, Banke: On 4 July 2021, Advocacy Forum-Nepal, represented by AF Lawyer Basanta Gautam conducted a sectorial meeting with newly appointed Superintendent of Police, the chief of District Police Office, Banke, Shyam Krishna Adhikari, accompanied by Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhusudan Neupane. The meeting focused on effective implementation of criminal justice system, juvenile justice, prison management, and protection of basic human rights of detainees and human rights and rule of law in the district. 

In this regard, AF Lawyer Gautam asserted the importance of rule of law, values, and principles of human rights in police activities during law enforcement. Acknowledging the issues raised by AF lawyer Gautam, SP Adhikari committed to delivering justice by fully implementing principles of the criminal justice system, registering the FIRs based on facts, and investigating without inflicting any forms of torture and ill-treatment. He further informed that if there are any grievances regarding the DPO he can be contacted directly without any hesitation. Similarly, DSP Neupane shared the importance of collaboration among civil societies and police to ensure justice and prevent crimes. He further committed to working for children, women, and juvenile justice as per the procedure and provisions prescribed by law.

AF has been working in strengthening the criminal justice system all over Nepal through meetings and discussions with the Police among other stakeholders of the criminal justice system.
