19 July, 2023: A case filed by torture victim Manisha Sah has been registered at District Court Dhanusha on 18 July 2023 under Torture Compensation Act, 1996.
The hearing date for the case has been scheduled for 3 August 2023.
Advocacy Forum-Nepal (AF) has been providing legal aid to Sah. AF’s lawyers Kumar Prasad Thapaliya, Pushpa Raj Poudel and Raj Kumar Mahaseth drafted the petition for the case. They had earlier drafted the FIR submitted to the District Police Office Dhanusha and District Attorney Office Dhanusha demanding action against the perpetrators.
Police officers in District Police Office Dhanusha had inflicted torture on Manisha Sah and her four family members on 15 June 2023. The victim family has been staging sit-in at Maitighar, Kathmandu demanding justice for more than a month.
