Transitional Justice Department

The department oversees the implementation of various programs on transitional justice in Nepal. The aim of the department is to contribute towards Nepal’s attempt to post-conflict recovery and retroactive justice by increasing access to justice for victims.
All of its activities are focused on the establishment of transitional justice mechanisms to ascertain the actual truth by identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators, provide reparations to victims and create conducive environment for reconciliation in order to provide justice for the victims, end the culture of impunity and reinforce the rule of law. The department carries out the following activities:
  • Exerting pressure at the National and  International level to establish Transitional Justice Mechanisms as per the international standards
  • Enhancing the capacity of various stakeholders on TJ related issues
  • Unifying conflict victims to facilitate their access to justice via capacity building measures
  • Advocacy and Lobby for Comprehensive Reparation Programs for the victims of conflict
