Child Rights Monitoring & Juvenile Justice Department
The department is focused on monitoring CRV including the effect of
conflict on children and promoting the implementation of juvenile
justice system. It aims at proactive intervention in the
implementation of Juvenile Justice Procedure Regulation and promoting
accountability on the case of use of children in armed forces both
nationally and internationally. The Child Rights Monitoring section of
the department basically documents major child rights violations
related to the monitoring and reporting mechanisms set up by Security
Council Resolution 1612. It measures and monitors the status of
children, including education, civil rights and special protection
measures.
The Juvenile Justice Section, however, lobbies for
the establishment of Juvenile reform homes and monitors the illegal
detention of children. It provides legal aid to children and makes
intervention to release them from illegal detention and pressurize the
authorities concerned to divert the children coming into conflict with
law to Child Correction Homes.
Please see Annual Report for detailed activities of the department.
